Please read these over prior to e-mailing or contacting us. Your question is likely related to one of the answers below. VOLUNTEER Q. I want to help with the event. Whom do I contact? A. We would love to have your help! Please read more in the Volunteer section of the site and be sure and fill out the volunteer form. We will contact you regarding the event and areas where we need assistance. Q. I have family coming that would like to volunteer where you need help. How can they get involved? A. Volunteers are able to get involved with the race while having fun watching family and friends. If you are interested in volunteering, please click here. One of our race committee members will contact you once your volunteer registration has been received. REGISTRATION Be sure and register now and reserve your spot! Space is limited to 300 racers. Registration closes on Wednesday, June 25th . There is no race-day registration. All registrations are online. Q. Is your credit card site secure? A. Yes, the site and registration systems are secure. Q. What do I need for Packet Pick Up? A. You must bring a photo ID to packet pick-up. (If you are a USAT member, you must bring your current USAT card that matches your registration information). Each participant must pick up his/her own race packet. Friends/Family cannot pick up race packets for each other. *Each member of a relay team must pick up his/her race packet. One relay member may not pick up all of the packets for the entire team. Q. How do I register a relay team? A. On the registration page, follow the information for registering multiple entrants. All three legs of the relay must register individually with the same Team Name. If one person is doing two legs of the relay the competitor must sign-up twice. All three registrations for the relay team must be submitted online by June 25rd, i.e.- no later than 1 week prior to race day or all registrations will be canceled. Q. Will I receive a confirmation packet? A. No. All confirmations will be sent via e-mail. Until you receive your confirmation e-mail you can check the web site for the information. Q. Do you give discounts for youth participants? A. No. Participants under the age of 18 may not race in the North Country Triathlon. Q. How many participants will you be allowing in North Country Triathlon events? A. Capacity numbers for the events are as follows:
A. No. Registration is online only and will close 1 week prior to the race. Q. Are there any benefits to registering early? A. Definitely. There is a fee increase as the race date approaches. Also, with our online registration, our event may sell out much more quickly. Q. May I register my friend online with my credit card? A. No, each person must register online for themselves. However, they may register using your credit card number and expiration date with your approval. The reason for this policy is that the waiver must be read and agreed to by each participant. An email confirmation will be sent to the email address typed in, as soon as the transaction is finalized. Keep a copy for your records. Q. After registering for your event, I find I cannot participate. What are my options? Do you give refunds? A. There is a no-refund policy for this event. Q. May I give or sell my slot to someone else? A. No. All entries are non-transferable. Participants found racing under another person's name will be disqualified and both entrants will be reported to USA Triathlon for disciplinary action which can include being suspended from any USAT event for 1 year. Q. Are you accepting phone registration? A. No. Registration is online only. All confirmations of your data as well as race updates will be sent to the online e-mail you provide while registering. RACE SPECIFIC Q. Can I ship my bike?* A. You may ship your bike to: North Country Triathlon (Attn: Marty Fink) c/o Silver Bay YMCA 87 Silver Bay Rd. Silver Bay, NY 12874 *If shipping, please make sure you have your name somewhere on the bike. In order to protect against theft, ID will be required in order to pick the bike up. Please be sure and bring your own tools for getting the bike together and re-packing when shipping out. Shipping can be done from the Hague Post Office in the town of Hague (no shipping on Sundays). You must bring your own packing materials as the Hague Post Office does not have these materials. Q. When/Where can I rack my bike? A. Bicycles may be racked as early at 6am race morning. Racks positions are not assigned and are first-come, first-served. Bicycles may NOT be racked in the transition area overnight. Q. Where do all of the race numbers go? A. At registration you will receive several race numbers, bike ties and safety pins.
A. At registration, all participants will receive a race packet with disposable timing-chip strap inside. Timing strap is to be fastened securely to your ankle. Relay participants will be issued on strap that will be shared for over overall time. All participants' times will be recorded as you cross the mats at each timing location: Swim In, Swim Out, Bike Out, Bike In, Run Out and the Finish Line. Chip straps will be collected by volunteers at the finish line. Q. What products will be in our race packets and at the race? A. The Official Gel Sponsor is CLIF SHOT® Energy Gels, The Official Energy Drink is Gatorade. Each company has a web site you can link to from the sponsorship section of the North Country Triathlon site, or simply click the logos on the right side of each page. Q. How do relay teams compete? A. A relay team must consist of at least two members (one person may not compete in all three legs of a relay). All relay team members must check in at registration to pick up their race packet. Relay members may not pick up race packets for their teammates. A relay team will be assigned one bib number: the swimmer will pick up the swim cap and timing chip, the biker will pick up the bike number and helmet stickers and the runner will pick up the bib number. Relay teams will transfer the timing chip and ankle strap by their assigned bike rack (The timing chip is the "baton"). Q. What are the course cut-off times? A. Course cut off times are calculated after the start of the last wave for the participant’s safety. The cut-off times are posted below: Olympic Course Cut-Off Times

Check our website for specific details, course maps etc. Q. What is the water temperature of Lake George? A. Between 68º and 72ºF degrees. Average for this time of year is 70ºF. Q. Are wetsuits allowed? A. Yes, full and sleeveless wetsuits are allowed, but not required. Booties and squid lids are also okay. If water temperature is over 80ºF on the day of the race, no wetsuits will be allowed. SPECTATORS Q. Where can I watch race morning? A. The North Country Triathlon will be an exciting event to watch. The transition area will be closed to spectators (this is the Hague Beach parking lot), however there are many excellent viewing areas for each leg of the event. During the race you may also enjoy the festival area, which is open throughout the day and is free to the public. Swim - Don't miss the start with the colorful waves of participant swim caps at Hague Beach. Bike - Bicyclists will exit the transition area (Hague Beach Parking Lot) north and to the right out of the finish chute on Saturday. All participants can be seen racing past:
Q. Are there are any fees to watch the Triathlon? A. No. There are no fees to watch the Triathlon. Please keep in mind that parking will be tight so plan in advance if you are coming to watch. Parking can be found at the following areas: Hague Community Center, dirt lot across street from Hague Beach, Town of Hague Community Center on main street (Rt. 8). If you are local, please try to leave your car at home and bike, or walk into town to avoid traffic congestion. Q. Is there food available on site? A. Yes, several food vendors will be available in the expo at Hague Beach selling a variety of fares. Great local stores such as The Firehouse, Uptown Cafe, and the Hague Market will also be selling great food and beverages. Q. Can I bring my pet? A. Due to the large number of participants, volunteers and spectators, pets are not allowed in the festival or race areas. Q. Can I purchase an event souvenir? A. Yes, Official event merchandise will be available at the North Country Triathlon merchandise tent. Q. Are there any road closures I should be aware of? A. We are working closely with local law enforcement, the Chamber of Commerce of Hague and the town boards of both Hague and Ticonderoga. While we are currently NOT planning on any road closures, there may be slowed access periodically to and from the town on Rt. 9N throughout the day. Please be patient and exercise extreme caution while driving near the racers or race areas. Plan in advance for slight delays. PARKING Q. Where may I park? A. Please keep in mind that parking will be tight so plan in advance if you are coming to watch. Parking can be found at the following areas: Hague Community Center, dirt lot across street from Hague Beach, Town of Hague Community Center on main street (Rt. 8). If you are local, please try to leave your car at home and bike, or walk into town to avoid traffic congestion. If you are racing, please be sure and get there early and carpool if at all possible. Q. Will there be specific parking or shuttles available? A. Yes, there will be race-specific parking available on a first-come-first-served basis. All race parking will have signs. Carpooling can be arranged with racers through our NCT Race Blog. Carpooling is a great way to meet fellow racers and reduce carbon emissions! GENERAL Q. Where is the town of Hague on Lake George? A. Check our website directions link for a map, directions, and all information on accommodations. Q. Where I can view the North Country Triathlon 2007 race results? A. Click the following links for results (PDF): Q. Can I use my own ChampionChip? A. Yes. During the online application process there is a place to enter your own alpha-numeric chip code (Please do not enter any spaces or dashes). Q. What do I do with my ChampionChip if it is not returned at the finish line? A. NCT uses disposable timing chip straps provided by ScoreThis.com which are collected at the finish-line for each event. Disposable chip-straps must be turned in at finish to receive your time. Q. Where do I pick up my pasta tickets (ordered with your online application)? A. There will be a list at the dining hall at Silver Bay YMCA of all pre-paid dinners for Friday night. Q. Where can I go for camping or if I have an RV? A. Here are a few suggestions. We would recommend reserving your spot immediately as campgrounds tend to fill up quickly this time of year. For other accommodations, please click here. Q. May I call the North Country Triathlon office if I want additional help? A. Yes, the friendly staff is always willing to help, but please thoroughly check out our website before calling North Country Triathlon staff as we are lightly staffed during the off-season. Many of the questions you have will be answered online. Our main office phone is 408-828-5060 (has voicemail) until race week at which point you can reach us at 518-543-6860 (no voicemail) up until July 4th. Q. Are pets allowed at the North Country Triathlons Festival? A. No. Due to the large number of participants we have chosen to prohibit pets in the festival area and therefore suggest you leave the pets with a house-sitter or a friend. Q. If my wetsuit is lost in the transition area on race day, what should I do? A. Check the lost-and-found department at the Information Booth in the Festival Area. Please leave your name and where you can be reached by a North Country Triathlon staff person (if it has not already been turned in) so we can reach you. Under no circumstances should you take someone else’s wetsuit. Is North Country Triathlon an IronMan qualifier? A. No. The majority of IronMan qualifiers are now full IronMan distance events. SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Q.
